A simpler, more honest way to find help
sewakarmi is a free marketplace that connects verified Indian household and small-business workers with the families who hire them. We don't take agency fees, we don't sell your data, and we don't take a cut from workers. Ever.
Why we built this
Finding good help in India is broken. Word of mouth covers your friends' circle. Local agencies charge ₹3,000–₹15,000 placement fees and take a cut from the worker's salary. Online platforms either serve only metros or feel like classified ads from 2008.
We started sewakarmi to fix three specific things. First, no fees for workers — ever. They keep 100% of what an employer pays. Second, identity verified at signup via Aadhaar + phone OTP, so employers know who they're calling. Third, multilingual from day one — a worker in Patiala uses ਪੰਜਾਬੀ, an employer in Chennai uses தமிழ், and the platform works the same for both.
What we do
- Verify each worker's phone number via OTP.
- Verify each worker's identity via Aadhaar OCR (we extract only name, gender, year of birth, city, and pincode — never the 12-digit number).
- Show the worker on search results to nearby employers in their preferred language.
- Connect employer ↔ worker by phone after a quick employer phone-verification.
What we don't do
- We are not the worker's employer. They work for you.
- We do not run criminal background or police verification ourselves. We recommend you do this for any full-time or live-in role — see our How it works page.
- We do not arbitrate disputes. We only provide a reporting tool.
- We do not store your Aadhaar number, your full date of birth, or your full address. See our privacy policy for the full data list.
